What Day of The Week Is It?

I am ashamed of myself. I had to really think about what day of the week it was. I don't know if I have had to think that hard about it since we had calender time in first grade where you held the pointer and said "Today is Wednesday April 30, 2008." And pointed at each of those things on the calender while saying it. I guess there was also high school when my Spanish 1 teacher was unexpectedly late and the department chair came in, and to occupy us asked us to tell her the date in Spanish. Was it Miercoles o Jovenes? No one in the class could answer in a correct sentence. She was angry at us... like we were the ones to blame when no one in a class of 40+ could answer... I am sure it wasn't the fault of the teacher who was late to school... we were the lops? (don't worry I ended up having the department chair for Spanish 2 and I did end up actually learning some Spanish and liking the department chair as a teacher and a person).

Anyway, back to my post. This week is flying by. It is Wednesday already. Where did Monday and Tuesday go? I guess I need to kick it into gear so I can try to make up those "lost" days.

The Thumbsucker

Before Callie came along I thought thumbsucking was a dirty habit and I just knew none of my kids would do it... Then I was relieved when Callie discovered her thumb; I never have to help her find it.

The helper

Callie did her part while painting on Saturday by making sure everyone had the opportunity to take a break and hold her for a little while. Here Aunt Emily is patiently holding her... the only way she wanted to be held. Oh and this is a picture of the living room floor.

Paint Day

I must say I was a little disappointed that none of my blog friends magically appeared to help paint my house over the weekend... This is the guest room. It is all primed for a coat of bright white paint later on tonight.

I Own A Home...

Well sort of, when you don't count all that moola I owe the bank. Yesterday our loan funded and Jeff proudly announced to his family while we were eating pizza that we were officially the most in debt in the family. I hadn't thought about it like that, and I must say it depressed me a little bit.

Oh well, it will take more than that to steal away all the sunshine that has been building up to this day!!! Our deed recorded this morning and at 12:00 PDT we will get the key to OUR house!!!

There is lots of work that accompanies that key so I shouldn't be around much for the next few weeks... On that note, if anyone has a desire to come paint this weekend...

I will hopefully find some time, in the not too distant future, to post pics of the house and maybe some Callie cuteness.

So Close...

I can almost taste it. Our loan FINALLY funded today. That means tomorrow we get the keys and are real homeowners. Jeff is really hoping they are going to put a sold sign up that we can take a picture in front of tomorrow... I don't really care if that happens or not, I just either want a sold sign, or the other sign gone so people know it is not available and they don't do anything stupid like dump an old trampoline in the yard, like someone did yesterday.

So exciting, but so overwhelming all at the same time. I have a shopping list that is about 12 miles long and a few repairs we need to get working on. Then hopefully we will get to move in around the first of May. Woohoo!!!

Real Food?!

On Friday Callie had rice cereal for the first time. We took about 35 pictures of the occassion, but decided this one summed up the occassion rather nicely. Can you tell how much she liked it?

Moving Right Along...

After four months it seems we are getting close to closing on our house. Last Saturday we received documents from the title company saying our house was going to close on or before May 6. Since nothing has happened on time in this endeavor, I figured we would be closing May 6 or later...

Yesterday our agent called and said we could be signing by the end of this week. Whoa! I was surprised by that. I thought that was the end of the process and we were then home owners. Then I found out it takes a few more days after signing to finalize everything, but those last steps shouldn't take more than a week.

UPDATE: After leaving the post for a while to do some silly things like feeding the baby, feeding my self and changing the laundry, I received a phone call and we are going to be signing tomorrow. The time is still TBD but it will happen tomorrow. How cool is that! I can't believe I am so close to home ownership.

Let's just say my lack of packing is now starting to freak me out!!!! EEK!!!

Jump Around!

A friend gave us a Jumperoo for Callie. She loves it! I love it because of the many things I can accomplish while she is happily entertained in it!

An Awesome Day!

I had a terrific birthday yesterday! I started to think it was the best one ever, when I remembered that last year for my birthday I found out I was pregnant, after nearly three years of trying it was a wonderful surprise gift. But this was still probably a close second :)

My plans changed about a billion times. I have been wanting to try a highly recommended restaurant out in Half Moon Bay, but then chickened out of taking the baby on such a long trip, about two hours from home. Then someone called and offered us tickets to the Giants game. I thought it would be fun to go, but then realized that I didn't know how Callie would do, and since it was a day game I didn't want to risk sunburn for Callie, so I made Jeff go to the game with his brother-in-law. While they went to the game I went shopping with my sister-in-law and I got two new pairs of bermuda shorts and a couple of shirts from Old Navy.

As for gifts, when we went shopping Emily gave me some $$ for shopping and bought us a great lunch at Chili's, Jeff gave me free reign over spending some moola on some new clothes (my clothes were in such terrible shape, it is no wonder I was glad to wear maternity clothes), and my mom and Shelly went in together and got me a breast pump. As odd as it sounds, I am really excited about the breast pump. I was not looking forward to pumping with my old hand pump to mix cereal for Callie.

In addition to the gifts I was able to spend the day with some of my favorite people. Callie, Katie and Lily (my two nieces) were angels while we were shopping and about as good as you can expect for a three year old, one year old, and four month old to act at a restaurant for lunch. We had an awesome dinner at Vito's with my family and Callie and Alyson (my other niece) were both pretty well behaved also. The food was incredible and the music, while loud was well done.

All in all a great day. The only thing missing were a few family and friends. I wish all my friends and family happiness in my next year and I hope I can bless them as richly as they bless me.

Comfort when they don't stand in need of comfort?

Last Friday I called my real estate agent to find out what the situation was on the house we are supposedly buying. Imagine my surprise when she assured me that this deal was not going to be like the last house deal we were involved in, where any little question we asked took weeks to be answered. Then she told me some tale about not having an executed contract, no preliminary title check started yet, and the house going active again in the MLS. I had no thought that this house deal was going to be anything like the other deal we were involved in. She reassured me that the deal was going to go through... WHAT! WHY WOULDN'T THE DEAL GO THROUGH? THEY WANT TO SELL A HOUSE WE WANT TO BUY ONE AND WE HAVE SOMEONE WILLING TO LEND US $$ TO BUY ONE?

It was one of those times when I was somewhat concerned because I had no thought that the deal was going to fall through. Because I was being told don't worry about it, it made me worry. I hate that. All I wanted to know was a rough idea for a closing date. It took until Monday to get that. Monday we were told the executed contract would be completed on or before Wednesday. It is now Friday and still no contract. Ugh. I know there are a lot of hoops to jump through when dealing with banks selling off foreclosed properties, but c'mon, the bank accepted our offer 24 days ago. And who knows how long it will take to go through escrow...

Then yesterday our loan officer called to "touch base". While my heart momentarily pounded, it seems that she was just calling to tell us that it is normal for the process to take this long and we just need to be patient.

According to the most recent reports we should be closing on or before 4/30... but we were also supposed to have an executed contract on or before Wednesday...
